Impact of War Upon Mens Relationships in Journeys End...
Compare and contrast the ways in which Hill and Sherriff present the impact of war upon menââ¬â¢s relationships in Strange Meeting and Journeyââ¬â¢s End and say how far you agree with the view that the relationships in Strange Meeting are more crucial for survival than those in Journeyââ¬â¢s End. Strange Meeting and Journeyââ¬â¢s End share many similarities; both the novel and the play are set during the First World War following the lives, and deaths, of the men in the officer ranks, and showing the immense strain and struggle which they felt. However, the two texts also differ in many respects. In Strange Meeting, Hill shows the positive impact of war upon the menââ¬â¢s relationships through the friendship of the two central characters, John Hilliard andâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Hilliard looked awayââ¬â¢ - are at first unsuccessful, however as the novel progresses, we see these walls beginning to crumble, showing Hilliardââ¬â¢s need for affection and support in his environment, and the positive impact that war has upon his ability to form relationships; ââ¬Ëhe sat up and said aloud, ââ¬ËJesus God, donââ¬â¢t let him be killed, donââ¬â¢t let him be killed.â⬠ââ¬â¢ The use of repetition makes Hilliard sound like he is praying to God, pleadin g with him to save his dearest friend from being killed. This, added to the fact that the normally withdrawn and unaffectionate Hilliard is openly declaring his feelings for Barton in his presence, highlights the intensity of his need for him to survive. The impact of war upon menââ¬â¢s relationships is presented rather differently by Sherriff in Journeyââ¬â¢s End, the relationships seem to suffer under the pressures of war rather than flourish as Hilliard and Bartonââ¬â¢s do in Strange Meeting. When Raleigh arrives, he calls it ââ¬Ëan amazing bit of luckââ¬â¢ to be serving Stanhope, who he has hero-worshipped throughout his adolescence. He believes that nothing will have changed between the ââ¬Ëterrific palsââ¬â¢, telling Osborne of the summers that the men spent together and of the attachment between Stanhope and Raleighââ¬â¢s sister. However, the excitement and happiness that Raleigh feels is not reciprocated by Stanhope who has already been fighting at war for

Coronary Artery Disease Nursing Care Plan free essay sample
Prevention is the best cure. Nurses play an important role in the treatment of CAD by offering and supplying comfort for anxiety and pain, minimizing symptoms and side effects, educating patients on the disease process, and helping to reduce risks and promote healthier lifestyles. Pathophysiology The heart is supplied blood, oxygen, and nutrients by the coronary arteries. When functioning normally, the coronary arteries ensure adequate oxygenation of the myocardium at all levels of cardiac activity (Klabunde, 2010). CAD is a heart disease that is caused by impaired blood flow to or through the coronary arteries. Several disorders can arise from the disease ranging from myocardial ischemia to myocardial infarction. Blood flow through the coronary arteries is usually dictated by the heartââ¬â¢s need for oxygen. It is controlled by physical, metabolic and neural factors and uses 60 to 80% of the oxygen in the blood that flows through the coronary arteries (Porth, 2011). Eric Foner Gives Me Liberty Essay Samples
Eric Foner Gives Me Liberty Essay SamplesEric Foner gives me liberty is his most famous essay. A 16-year-old American in the mid-1960s was arrested for trying to throw a flag. The young man, out of his perspective, was enraged that the police used what he thought to be unconstitutional methods to arrest him. In the essay that follows, he articulates his views on civil liberties.Today, civil rights are overburdened by police officers who act like quasi-private soldiers for the Department of Defense. They use tactics including beating and tasing the unarmed. I am writing to you from Homan Square in Chicago, where undercover Chicago police officers are carrying out a massive search and seizure operation against local activists and the press. These undercover cops are looking for someone to incriminate by posing as a petty criminal and a cop busts them in their jobs as terrorists. Police brutality is everywhere in our society. We have taken an aggressive posture and that has come back to haunt us.Leon Kaufman says, 'The only effective way to fight tyranny and oppression is to become one with it, to be a captive of it, to practice complicity. No movement can achieve victory unless it is involved in complicity with the powers of evil and oppression.'Leon Kaufman's thinking has changed my life, and I thank him. I am happy that this young man wrote this essay for me. It is a perfect example of what must be done.I wish all Americans could read Eric Foner's essay and see what is required to get rid of a police state. The only way to do that is to cooperate with the forces of good.It is time to break the iron grip of the military industrial complex and our Federal Reserve System on our political system. Please consider all this. Thank you.
